priya_at_no12We opened up the fireplace in the front room. It had been boarded over since the 70s. Had the chimney swept and surveyed first, then a new hearth and a simple surround. Living room finally has a focal point that isn't the TV.

priya_at_no12Hallway done at last. Stripped the woodchip, replastered, new skirting and a glazed internal door so light gets through from the front. The stairs were sanded and stained to match. It's the first thing you see so it felt worth getting right.

priya_at_no12New front door and path. The old door was draughty and had seen better days, so we went for a solid composite in a deep green with a brass knocker, and relaid the path with a simple border. Amazing how much difference it makes to coming home.
